They’re called Fair Ohs and hail from the UK. They play a very melodic strand of beat-driven, jangly ‘verb-pop that I just can’t get enough of. To bring about comparisons, these guys sound a bit like how Abe Vigoda used to sound before…:deep breath:…the dark ages. :p
After some digging, I’ve noticed that their name is one of several evolutions; much like the name of a stateside group of noise makers, Thee Oh Sees. Their name bounced from The Ohsees to OCS to Orange County Sound to Orinoka Crash Suite and is currently Thee Oh Sees. Fair Ohs is the current state of a name that began as The Pharaohs which evolved into The Fair Ohs and is now Fair Ohs but still might be Thee Mighty Fair Ohs. Um, yeah.
I’m not entirely sure what the point of all that was. I believe I just treated you to a thought process. Anyway, I’m currently obsessed with this band and think you should be too. Below you’ll find a track from a split they released earlier this year on Tough Love Records with fellow UK lo-fi popper, Spectrals. I’ve a feeling that whole East London scene is a great place to look for great bands.

The track is called “Hey Lizzy”. Fuck it, there’s a Spectrals track from the split down there as well. I’m digging this that much. That one’s called “Keep Your Magic Out of My House”. It’s a pretty great release; too bad it’s sold out. Only 500 copies were pressed. Enjoy the hell out of these.Fair Ohs – “Hey Lizzy”
This is the kind of pop jam that would probably be surrounded by dancing people.

This is a nice bluesy tune just in time for Christmas if you’re the ‘bah humbug’ type. Ebenezer Scrooge would get down to this is what I’m saying.
